ASCON Courses |
|
|
|
ASCON training programmes are designed to identify and examine
contemporary management challenges. Participants are led through a systematic
approach to enquiry and practical simulations to examine problems that arise
within the public and private sectors of the economy and identify approaches to
resolving these challenges. ASCON Courses reflected in this Brochure are:
- Long duration
- Regular and short
- Duration programmes.

Duration of Courses |
|
|
|
The regular scheduled courses last two weeks while the long duration
programmes last two to nine months. While short duration programmes last three
days to one week; Tailor-made – (customerised) programmes are offered on client
demand and needs. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Letters of Acceptance of Nomination |
|
|
|
Letters of acceptance of nominations together with joining instructions
are usually sent through sponsoring organisations to officers accepted for ASCON
courses. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Course Fees |
|
|
|

Course fees for the long duration and regular courses are contained in the
tables at the end of this brochure: These rates are subject to review without
prior notice. Fees for short duration are reflected as part of course
information for each course. |

|
|
|
|
|
Medical examination Report |
|
|
|
A medical report is to be submitted on each prospective participants on
the prescribed form usually forwarded along with the admission letter. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Payment of Fees |
|
|
|

All fees and charges are to be paid to the college before the commencement
of the course or on arrival in the College. No participants will be allowed to
register for a course or be given accommodation without evidence of full payment
of the stipulated charges. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Accommodation: |
|
|
|
Provision of accommodation within the College complex is subject to
availability and on the basis of first come first served. Alternative
accommodation arrangements outside the College complex can be made for clients
on request. Sponsors are advised to make their request for accommodation known
to the College not later than two weeks to the commencement of programme of
interest. |

|
|
|
|
|
|
Faculty Staff |
|
|
|

ASCON faculty staff comprise experienced public officers and consultants. They
are supported by guest lecturers from the private sectors, universities and
other reputable management training institutions in the country. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Teaching Methods |
|
|
|

ASCON courses are highly participative. Discussions are encouraged during
sessions which account for about 50% of the course time. The rest of the time is
devoted to individual and group exercises, case studies, decision-making
exercises and the practice of management skills. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Certificates |
|
|
|
For all its regular courses, the College issues certificates of
attendance. The Post-Graduate Diploma in Public Administration (PGDPA), the
Post-Graduate Diploma in Computer Science (PGDCS) the Certificate in Electronic
Data Processing (CEDAP) and the Advanced Certificate in Public Administration
and Management (ACPAM) are the only exceptions where participants are awarded
certificates on the basis of their performance in examinations. The following

Methods of Application |
|
|
|
ASCON courses are open to officers in the Federal and State Civil Services,
Parastatals, Local Governments, the Armed Forces, the Police and Private Sector
Organisations. Such officers must be sponsored by their employers. Interested
candidates should apply to their organisations for nomination and sponsorship.
All applications for admission should get to the College, at least, two weeks
before the commencement of each course for processing.
